Supporting Seabass
Kind words mean a lot to me. If you like Seabass, let me know! An endorsement from a fellow DJ goes a long way in making my day a bit brighter. Send an email to sebas@kde.org
With that said, making Seabass available for free isn't free for me. Aside from my time and hardware to test with, I also have to pay for various services that keep this project going. Chipping in is hugely welcome.
You can either send a one-time donation or become a regular supporter of Seabass over on Patreon.
If you'd rather donate money to the KDE community, this is of great value for Seabass as well, you can do so at kde.org/donate.
Thank you.
Send something once
No subscription, nothing to cancel later. Send whatever you think it was worth through PayPal — with a PayPal account, or with a card through PayPal in most countries.
Add your name in the payment note if you'd like it on this page. That's the whole process — no email needed, though emailing works too.
Prefer a plain bank transfer? Write to sebas@kde.org and I'll send the details. It costs the project nothing in fees, and it's also how you'd set up a standing order to support monthly without going through Patreon at all.
What you get for it: your name on this page, if you want it, and nothing else. Not the early test builds — those are tied to a Patreon tier, and there's no honest way to hand them to a one-time donor and then decide months later that the money has run out. Anyone telling you a €20 tip should buy more than a thank-you is selling something.
Or support Seabass monthly
Monthly support is on Patreon. Every tier is the same software; what differs is how you're credited and whether you see the test builds early.
Supporter · €5/month
You're keeping Seabass free for the DJs who can't spend anything on software, which is the entire point of the project.
- Your name or DJ alias on this page and in the app's About screen
- Anonymous is fine too — it's opt-in either way
Platform Supporter · €10/month
This is the tier that buys the test gear. Everything above, plus:
- Listed under Platform Sponsors here and in the app
- Early access to the Windows and macOS test builds
Core Sponsor · €25/month
Everything above, plus a say in what gets tested:
- Prominent name or logo here, in the app, and in the project README
- Named in the release notes for releases your support funded
- A vote on which DJ hardware gets bought and tested next
Support on Patreon Support KDE instead
There's also a free tier on the same page if you only want the release announcements.
Getting credited
You're anonymous unless you ask not to be. Nothing goes on this page or into the app until you tell me it should, and one email takes it down again.
Patreon doesn't tell me how you'd like to be named, so send an email to sebas@kde.org with the subject Seabass supporter (or Seabass sponsor for Core Sponsors) and these details:
- Your Patreon handle. The address you mail from usually isn't the one you pledged with, and without the handle I can't match the two.
- The name or DJ alias exactly as it should appear — capitalisation, spacing, accents and all.
- A link, if you want one. Your site, SoundCloud, wherever the name should point.
- A logo, Core Sponsors only. SVG preferred; otherwise PNG on a transparent background, 400px wide or more.
Sent a one-time contribution? The name in your PayPal note, or in the reference on a bank transfer, is enough on its own — no email needed. Send one anyway if you want a link alongside your name, and skip the Patreon handle, which you won't have.
That's everything I ask for and everything I keep. No real name, no address, nothing that isn't needed to put a name on a page. Sending the email is your go-ahead to publish it, and you can withdraw that at any time without cancelling anything.
The people funding it
Nobody is listed here yet — this page went up the same day support did. If you've just chipped in and want your name here, see getting credited below.
One-time contributors
Nobody here yet either. Names on this list stay put: no tiers, no expiry, no re-upping.
Or support the ecosystem instead
Seabass sits on a lot of other people's work. If you'd rather your money went to the foundations than to one more USB stick, these are the better targets and I'd genuinely rather you gave there than not at all:
- KDE — hosts the project, and builds the desktop it was written on.
- The upstream libraries Seabass depends on; they're credited with their licences on the licensing page.
