I have been a core developer at KDE and Free Software activist. Being involved in the creation of the Plasma desktop from the beginning, I co-architected and lead the development of its recent version, Plasma 5.
I have been release manager throughout the KDE 4 series, initiated KDE’s Marketing Working Group and have since helped streamlining KDE’s public relations, communication and branding. As part of this work, I acted as primary contact for the press. I was elected into the KDE e.V.’s Board of Directors in 2006 where my efforts were spent on PR, trademarks, organizational development and more generally making KDE e.V. (the non-profit organization behind KDE) support the KDE community in the best possible way.
I represent the KDE community and its work at events world-wide and am a frequent speaker at international conferences. I have written several articles for magazines, mostly related to technical topics around KDE, Qt and Free Software in general.
On the technical side, I developed and maintained several of KDE Plasma’s key components. Being an expert in power management on my special focus goes out towards Plasma on mobile devices. Other areas of special interest include hardware integration, Wayland and graphics in general. In my previous academic work, I focused on improving software quality management processes and methods.
